Ann Arbor Concert Band

In 1991, the Ann Arbor Concert Band established a scholarship competition for high school students who are outstanding wind or percussion instrumentalists. The winner of the award received a $1,000 scholarship as well as the opportunity to perform with the band at the final concert of the season. The generosity of Dave Juillet, who passed away in 1994, made the first awards possible. In July 1993, the family of Andrew Lum, a promising musician and football player at Huron High, and his mentor Dave Juillet established the Andrew J. Lum Young Artist Scholarship Fund in his memory. The award perpetuates his high standards of excellence through hard work, determination, personal dedication and enthusiasm for music.

Mitchell Luttermoser

Mitchell Luttermoser is a senior at Plymouth H.S. in Canton, Michigan. Mitchell began playing saxophone in the fall of 2009 at Central Middle School under the direction of Mrs. Linda Calzone, who fostered Mitchell’s love and passion for music. Mitchell has been a member of the high school wind ensemble, marching band, and jazz ensemble all four years of his high school career. Mitch also leads a saxophone quartet, and has served as a mentor of the Plymouth Middle School honor band. Mitchell has earned numerous honors as a soloist at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Solo and Ensemble festival. In 2015 Mitchell earned a spot in the Michigan All-State Band, Western Michigan University Dana Wilson All-Star Band, Interlochen Saxophone Institute, and has been a member of the University of Michigan Youth Symphonic Band since 2014. This summer Mr. Luttermoser will participate in the Interlochen Wind Symphony. Mitch is auditioning for a number of Music Schools at the University level to pursue his lifelong dream of being a professional Saxophone teacher and performer. Mitch would like to thank all of his teachers with special mention to: his parents Reed and Deborah Luttermoser, his band directors Mrs. Linda Calzone, Mr. G. Jon Thomann, and Mr. David Armbruster, and his saxophone teachers: Mr. Mark Main, Dr. Joseph Girard, and Mr. Zach Stern.
